If you don’t have a fax machine or you have one and are looking to save time and money I found a free faxing solution you will want to investigate.
Faxing has been a staple of business for the last few decades and while its use is diminishing with the prevalence of email, digital signatures and more and more online services it is still an important facet of many business today. The costs associated with faxing, especially receiving faxes can add up. These costs include supplies paper, ink/toner, repairs and time spent picking up faxes or clearing paper jams. Most of these costs are associated with receiving faxes and fortunately there are FREE options for receiving faxes directly into your email inbox.
While not prominantly advertized, eFAX provides a FREE inbound service with your own private fax number. This is only free for receiving faxes — you will have to upgrade to a paid service in order to send faxes, get a local fax number, or get toll free fax number. Granted, each fax you send will only cost a few cents but this will quickly add up, especially if you send international faxes which have higher rates than domestic ones.
If you want an free outbound faxing solution check out http://www.myfax.com/free/. What I like about their service is the fact that you are not limited to only2 pages and there is no advertising other than a short plug for their service unlike most of the other services.
My solution is to have an all-in-one desktop printer with integrated fax machine that I use for my everyday printing and sending faxes. I use my eFAX account to receive all my faxes and have had zero problems with the service. You will need to install their proprietary fax viewer. I take the few moments to convert and save my received faxes to PDF by using my favorite print to PDF utility to make it easy to print or share the fax in the future.
